Group Volunteering / Team Building

 

Thank you so very much for your interest in group volunteer opportunities at Clothed by Faith.

CBF exists to demonstrate God’s love through the provision of gently used clothing to those in need. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we assemble a week’s worth of clothing, shoes and new underwear and socks in response to requests from individuals and our social agency partners.  Clothing donations are carefully sorted, selected, and packaged by volunteers specifically for each client and presented in a manner that offers them hope and a sense of dignity. 

 

Volunteers are a vital component of the work that we do.  Our dedicated group of volunteers enable us to provide clothing to over 1200 clients a month. 

While we are eager to introduce groups of new volunteers to CBF, hosting a large group in our facility requires a significant commitment of resources and of our staff’s time, often taking them away from other tasks necessary to serve our clients. 

For that reason, we have a few guidelines for our potential volunteer groups:

  • All warehouse volunteers must be at least 14 years of age, and all 14 and 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult who will also volunteer (1 adult to 2 minors).

  • All volunteers MUST watch our SORTING TRAINING VIDEO before they can volunteer.  The video is approximate 10 minutes long.  A link to the video will be sent to you if we confirm a date.

  • We ask that each member of your group assist us in serving our clients by donating a package of ADULT sized underwear AND socks for inclusion with the bags that will be prepared with the clothing your group sorts.  Alternatively, you may choose to make a suggested donation of $25 per participant representing the cost to CBF of preparing a bag containing a week’s worth of clothing for one of our clients.  This donation represents another tangible way your group can partner with CBF in providing hope and dignity, along with a week’s wardrobe, to those in need.

  • To ensure your group has time to arrive, get oriented, and do meaningful work, we ask for a two-hour commitment.

    GROUP VOLUNTEERING IN KATY

    We limit the size of volunteer groups to no more than eight (8).  Our sorting area is small, and a larger number of volunteers makes it difficult to move around and sort clothing easily.  In short, having more than 8 is not an optimal experience for your group.

Please note: sometimes we have too much stock and will therefore advise against a clothing drive as we will not have the capacity to accept the clothing.
